Dussehra is one of the festivals of Hindus, which is celebrated by them with great enthusiasm. This festival is celebrated in the remembrance of the victory of lord Rama over the great demon king Ravana, the king of Lanka. This victory of lord Rama marks the victory of good over evil or bad. The mythology related with this festival is the part of lord Rama's life. Rama was married with the beautiful girl named Sita. And the demon king Ravana kidnapped Sita and brought her to Lanka with him. So to rescue Sita, the Great War was held between the lord Rama and demon king Ravana. The Rama's younger brother Lakshmana, Monkey's lord Hanuman and a great army of monkeys participated from the lord Rama's side.
At the end of the war, the demon king Ravana was killed by the lord Rama. And Sita Email Marketing List was rescued. This day is celebrated by people with fun and pleasure. The other mythology behind this festival is related with goddess Durga. This mythology marks the victory of goddess Durga over the great demon, Mahishasura. A war was held between the goddess Durga and the demon Mahishasura force. This war continued for nine days and on the tenth day, Mahishasura was killed by goddess Durga with his entire demon force. Many other mythological stories are also related with this festival.
Outdoor fairs are organized at different places on this festival. The plays to depict the story of Dussehra are organized; these plays are called Ram Leela. The play starts on the first navratri and continued till the day of Dussehra. People come to enjoy these plays. On the tenth day, the date of dussehra the large sized statues of Ravana are burnt and crackers are played. At some places, like Bengal the large statues of goddess Durga are submerged in the water of rivers. There may be a difference in the way of celebration on the basis of people's beliefs, but they have same respect and devotion in their hearts for their religion.
